We all know the real reason people tune into the Super Bowl, the Commercials! We love Marketing here at SIS and love researching the types and costs of Ads coming to Super Bowl LIV. With that being said, here are 5 interesting facts about Super Bowl advertising!

Super Bowl Ads Bring in More Money than the NBA Playoffs and World Series

In 2019, CBS receive $336 million from the 2019 Super Bowl Ads, while ABC brought in $288 million for the NBA Finals and Fox generated $191 for the World Series. Keep in mind that the NBA finals is a six-game series and the World Series is a seven-game series (Forbes) . One game, one night, $336 million

2. Average 30 Second Ad Costs $5.6 Million

In 2008 the average 30 second Ad price was $2.7 million and jumped to $5.24 million in 2018 (Marketing Charts) . It’s reported that the average 30 second Ad cost for 2020 is approaching $6 million quickly.

3. Only 6 Minutes of the Game

According to Forbes, 149 million people tuned into at least 6 seconds of the 2019 Super Bowl game. Not everyone is going to watch the game, this is apparent when the ratings went down 16 million from 2015 to 2019, but they will stay around for Ads during commercial breaks.

4. New Advertisers for Super Bowl LIV

We know the classic big player ads we see year to year, but there are some interesting new players this year to look forward to. Here are a few newcomers to the Super Bowl Ad space: Sabra Hummus, Bud Light Seltzer, Walmart, Little Caesar’s Pizza and of course 2020 Presidential Campaign Ads.
